animal rescue: coney
Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 11:00AM In the newest CB2 Spring catalog, we got help from some pretty adorable models—only rescued animals were on-set to help bring awareness to animal shelters and pet adoption.
Coney—a 10+ corgi—comes from St. Louis, where an email from a co-worker was sent in search of a new home for her.
Nicknames: C-dog, Cone-star, Cone-dog… but her name is Coney—named after the infamous Detroit hot dog.
Likes: Being anywhere we are… napping in the backyard… herding her ‘peeps’ by bumping our heels/calves with her nose… snuggling her head in our laps.
‘Pet’ peeves: Bad singing, stairs, and people who don’t stop to pet her—she wants to meet everyone!
Favorite toy: Tug-of-war rope.
Favorite napping spot: It’s a tie between her fleece-lined bed where she rests her chin on its walls, or the patio.
Guilty pleasure: Natural Balance small breed treats.
Talent Show: A ridiculously cute begging pose. She sits straight up and flat on her tail-less bottom—it kills us every time.
Cat and dog adoption fast facts:
…approximately 4 million pet dogs and cats are euthanized each year due to overpopulation.
…25% of pet dogs euthanized in animal shelters are purebred.
…adopting a dog or cat from the Humane Society, ASPCA—any rescue group—can save their life.
…and, being a pet owner can add years to your life too.

Awwwww!!!! So happy Coney has a wonderful home. We had our Corgi, KC for over 16 years. He was just the best and it broke our hearts when we lost him. It has been over 4 years and it is still so hard to talk or think about. I hope Coney has many, many wonderful years with her family!
Hello, thanks for featuring a Corgi girl in your catalog.
Is she still available for adoption?
I have a seven year old Corgi boy Winston that needs a friend here in San Diego!.
Take care and keep up the good work!
Is she available for adoption?
Coney, Do come to Santa Fe some time to meet fellow Corgis Sydney and Lola.
Love Coney - Just lost my 2nd corgi on Jan. 21st. Chester also hated stairs, but a vacuum was his worst nemesis. He also loved to herd our family from room to room but bumping into our ankles. So glad you rescued Coney - she's beautiful. Enjoy her for many, many years.
Hi Jenn!
Please accept our apologies for the delayed response--
Thankfully Coney has a happy home. However, if you're interested in adopting, we highly recommend the sites and links provided.
On a personal note, last year my family adopted a dog for my 87 year old father from the local ASPCA--and he renamed him Lucky. We all feel extremely fortunate to be together so, all the best to you too!
Thanks for promoting rescue dogs. There are so many wonderful puppies & dogs that need homes!
My daughter has a Corgi...wonderful animal even if her herding can sometime annoy...it also makes me laugh when it's not ME she's trying to herd.
Wonderful thing you're doing here...pets are a big job...and it's sad that when people realize how much work they are that they get dumped. I've had two rescues that were very evidently being treated poorly; the love from those animals when met with love and affection from a human companion? Priceless.
