artist profile: anne connolly

Continuing our partnership with the Creativity Explored studio in San Francisco—a nonprofit visual arts center where artists with developmental disabilities create, exhibit and sell art—painter and printmaker Anne Connolly deftly layered 12 colors to create an energetic abstract piece for the color field rug.

Born in 1951, Connolly has been an artist at Creativity Explored since 1987. While often using contrasting colors for greater impact, her distinctive style features bold, forceful brushstrokes that create multiple layers. The interaction between layers produce interesting results—when opaque, one layer obscures another underneath it. And when diluted or transparent, the layers combine to produce new colors, dynamic compositions, and visual depth to each piece.

Creativity Explored's partnership with CB2 is terrific! We bought the rug from last years catalog and continue to love it as a wall hanging. We drove 200 miles to purchase a color field rug as well. The colors are breathtaking.
Please keep up this partnerhsip CB2. Doing well and doing good are such a great combination

Hi there,
We are in Richmond Va and bought one of your Creativity Explored rugs a few months ago (the blue one with orange and yellow swirls). We LOVE it AND we LOVE that your store has this "collection" from Creativity Explored. We also have a daughter with special needs so this has even more meaning and significance to us. Thank you SO much - for our rug AND for your inclusion, your respect AND your cool cool art-based items from the wonderful artists at Creativity Explored!!!
