how to: make a bubble wreath

In our latest catalog, our creative stylists used clear glass bubble balls to create modern wall art in the form of a wreath. While ours was made to appear permanently installed in the room, these instructions allow for temporary or Holiday decorating.

Supplies:
1. space on a wall that can be nailed, or a flat MDF board sized appropriately
2. pencil and string
3. 3” nails and a hammer
4. bubble balls—a mixture of 4” and 6” sizes
5. optional for the MDF: paint as desired and hanging hardware
hint: always contact your local hardware store for advice on which hanging hardware is appropriate for your wall art and walls.

Directions:
1. Measure to find the center of the wall area—or MDF board—intended to display the wreath. Connect that point to a pencil and draw a perfect circle.

2. Roughly following the circle, positioning nails slightly inside and outside the circle, hammer in nails at least 1/2”.

3. Check position by temporarily placing a few bubble balls on the nails for a visual.

4. Complete nailing and place bubble balls as desired—starting with large ones first and fill in with smaller ones.
hint hint: if installing temporarily, hang the board once all nails are secured—without the bubble balls for safety reasons—then add the bubble balls.

how to: make a snowball wreath

Supplies:
1. Styrofoam ring—ours measured about 24” in diameter, almost 3” wide and 2” thick
2. ornaments
3. hot glue gun and glue sticks
4. ribbon for hanging

Directions:
1. Hot glue fuzzy snowballs one at a time on to the Styrofoam ring—start with the 6” first, then use the 4” to fill in the gaps.

2. Place shiny mobile, starburst, and wire ornaments as desired.

3. To hang, loop a ribbon as desired.

how to: save a tree

Repurpose a tall ladder—and save a tree!

Supplies:
1. wood ladder
2. light strands
3. ornaments

Directions:
1. It’s going to create drama, so position the ladder where it can be the center of attention.

2. Test light strands then weave them around and through the ladder’s steps and sides.

3. Hang ornaments and top as desired—careful not to overweight any one strand of lights or throw off the ladder’s balance.

hint: for safety reasons, think twice about your roommates—cats, small children—before installing.

how to: create a FLOR area rug

Supplies:
1. a layout, design, or sketch
2. FLOR tiles and FLORdots as needed
3. straight edge metal ruler or level
4. sharp carpet knife or box cutter
5. clean, flat surface for cutting

hint: leave nothing to waste and create a design that uses all cut pieces—and hang on to extra pieces, even mistake cuts, so they can be used/reused somewhere else.

Directions:
1. Carefully measure, twice, the floor space to be covered.

2. Create a grid of squares based on a 10:1 ratio of the floor space and sketch design as desired.

4. Cutting tiles: on a clean, flat surface—protected by thick cardboard—lay the tiles face down; with a metal straight edge, mark the cut needed and score the tile a few times using a sharp carpet knife until it cuts completely through the tile.

5. Use FLORdots——one-sided, non-toxic adhesives that stick to the bottom of each tile, sticky side up—to securely attach tiles in their proper position.

hint hint: remember the design will be a mirror image when cutting and attaching dots.

FLOR’s Recycling Program:
CB2 customers can simply bring any old CB2-purchased FLOR tiles to any CB2 location and we will return them to FLOR for recycling. Customers who do not live near a store—or didn’t buy their tiles at CB2—can still participate in this program by following these 3 easy steps:
1. Box them up. FLOR does not supply boxes to return the tiles, so they recommend using a strong cardboard shipping box. If you are receiving a shipment of tiles, or brought quantities home in their boxes, keep the box for future returns if possible.
2. Contact FLOR/Customer Care—once the tiles are boxed—at 866.281.3567 or www.flor.com. FLOR will then send a pre-paid shipping label for each box.
3. Drop off labeled boxes at any UPS store.

how to: create a branch centerpiece

Entertaining season will be here soon so it’s time to get ready. By hanging a centerpiece over— instead of adding clutter to—the dining table, ample room is left for a clean modern table and unobstructed brunch to dinner conversations.

Select a branch sized to suit your dining space, paint for a high-gloss effect, and add colorful ornaments to trim your ‘tree’. To hang, use natural twine—or extra strong fish-line for a floating effect.
