animal rescue: etta

Just the facts: Etta is 8-1/2 years old but has the energy and sassiness of a puppy. Her days are filled with walks, hiding toys or rawhides around the house, playing with other dogs—and lots of naps.

Favorite toys: She cannot live without her elephant, zebra, or orange bone.

Before she was discovered: Etta was adopted from PAWS Chicago just a few months ago after being at another shelter in Illinois for several months. We don’t know why she was originally given up, but the original shelter transferred her to PAWS to increase her chances of being adopted.

Talent Show: Her most adorable and well known features are her long ears, her enormous paws and her very soulful but loud howl—similar to Etta James’ singing.

Nicknames: Since adopting her, several nicknames—including Noisy Noodle and Rowdy Rigatoni—
have been found to fit her personality.

Unfortunately, the photo shoot including Etta didn’t make the final cut. To her mom, it was nothing personal—we loved working with her!

animal rescue: lulu

Just the facts: LuLu is a 4 year old brindle Boxer—brindle refers to the black stripes within the fawn-color of her coat. Her birthday is June 30, under the astrology sign of Cancer—she is loving, playful, energetic, highly intelligent, loyal, and protective.

Likes: She enjoys running along the sandy lakefront beaches of Chicago, as well as leisurely times laying by the fireplace at home. She began modelling last year and looks forward to more time in front of the camera as her busy schedule allows.

Before she became famous: Originally from a downstate Illinois rescue shelter, she now resides in the West Loop area of Chicago with her sister Candi, also a Boxer, and their two dads.

Favorite snack: Little bits of prosciutto.

Talent Show: Her best trick is chewing out the last chapter of whatever book I’m reading if she thinks she’s being ignored—always the last one, never the first.

animal rescue: alley

Nicknames: Alleyoopers, Ganoopie, Ganoopers, Little Monkey.
Favorite snack: Anything and everything—especially if it’s outside—loves veggies.
Favorite toy:  Our other dog Ed, and the first toy in her new home—a small plastic dog with an enormous head… that she’s half-chewed off.
Talent Show: She doesn’t have ANY!  Sits a little crooked when asked about 10 times.
How she was ‘discovered’: On July 3rd we drove into our alley and this little dog was looking lost—and scared of the fireworks—but adorable. We posted pictures, walked door-to-door, but no one claimed her. Our other two dogs adapted to her immediately—well almost—and my husband swears I pulled the signs down! But she’s part of our family now and there couldn’t be a happier goofier dog.

one of a finds: le chiot

First discovered in a 2009 gallery exhibition, French Ink by TT Crew staged at the Babù Gallery, le chiot—a papier mâché dog—made a lasting impression and two years later, have finally made it to CB2’s one of a finds.

Babù Art Co. Ltd is a professional art institution located in the Art Zone of Shenzhen, China. With a commitment to contemporary and concept art, it consists of Babù Gallery and Babù Space.

Babù Gallery is focused on the dissemination of contemporary art and Babù Space covers a wild range of contemporary fashionable arts like Street culture, design, installation and video, as it’s been promoting international art.

Featuring the four artists that make up the TT Crew, it was the drawings by one artist in particular that were so compelling and which were later added on to the papier mâché dogs.

Made by hand of wood and layered with Chinese ink paper, each is unique as are the small scale drawings embellishing them.

One of a Finds original works are offered one time only as a limited edition for collectors and enthusiasts—le chiot has a release of 448.

Note: this one of a find will be available mid-October.
