To mark the San Francisco Silent Film Festival’s 17th year, seventeen films of new discoveries, new restorations and favored classics will be previewed.

Select programs will showcase live musical accompaniment by top musicians in the field—including Alloy Orchestra, the Matti Bye Ensemble, and the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra.


adfilmfest: chicago

During adfilmfest, a selection of feature length films, documentaries and shorts will be shown during the week. Accompanying them, filmmakers, architects, designers and other industry leaders are scheduled to discuss design processes, architecture in film, and brilliant designs we see and use every day.

In Pool Party, catch the doubly surprising story of a swimming pool—the size of a football field in New York City built during the Depression and abandoned for almost 25 years—that’s become the most significant indie music venue since CBGB’s.

And in Detroit Wild City, locals hypothesize the future of Detroit—and ultimately all urban ‘settlements’.

33 Films will fill the roster—ranging in length from three minutes to 93 minutes—and each has been curated into 15 programs. Tickets will be sold by the program with each program including 1-4 films of varying lengths and running approximately 90 minutes.

This year marks the 10th installation of Art Basel Miami Beach—the winter destination for contemporary art in the US—where more than 260 galleries from 5 continents will feature over 2,000 artists.

There will be special exhibitions in the museums and special exhibition sections around town for young galleries, performance art pieces, public art projects and art videos. And for the first time during Art Basel, the New World Center, designed by Frank Gehry, will provide a large-scale outdoor projection wall for art videos in SoundScape Park.

atlantic antic: new york

The Antic is the largest street festival in New York City—having made a name for itself over three decades, its become a Brooklyn institution

Spanning four neighborhoods from Hicks Street to Fourth Avenue, the festival celebrates the diversity of the heritages that coexist in the Brooklyn Borough.

Known for eclectic delicacies, the Antic offers a chance to try foods from around the world but it doesn’t leave out the street fair favorites like funnel cakes and roasted corn.

There will be free performances of various musical genres and it’s fun for all featuring an entire city block dedicated solely to kid-friendly activities including storytelling, face painting—and pony rides!
